Horse Riding Equipment

If you’re going to ride a horse, you’re going to need the right horse riding equipment. You wouldn’t expect to try and swing a baseball bat with your arm, would you? That’s bound to be terribly painful, and would ultimately suck all of the fun right out of that game that’s only really the pastime of cities that have two ball clubs in them. Besides, I’ve never known of an infielder who could run a hundred yards in less than four seconds.

I don’t honestly know a whole lot about how to ride, but luckily all I really have to do to find out what I need to get started, I can look up. Yes, yes I know, that’s very geeky and post-modern and all, but bear with me: I grew up in a place that wished it were a city its entire life. The sites that I found the most interesting had information on both English and Western-style saddles, braces, back supports, straps, stirrups, and…well, those of you who’ve ridden will know a lot more than I do.

You can find horse riding equipment in general sporting goods stores, too, but the chances are good that you’d run into someone at that store that knows about as much as I do about the intricacies of horseback riding, which is frankly limited to mounting, dismounting, and making sure my clumsy butt doesn’t fall right off of the horse.

Whether you’re an equestrian sport enthusiast, a died-in-the-wool rider, or you just watched a lot of westerns growing up as a kid, most of us have had the urge to ride off into a sunset just once on a horses back, maybe with some kid in the background calling after us as it makes its way across the hill and into dusk. But we wouldn’t ride at all without he right equipment.
